My artwork, "Rise. Sun. Set." was selected for inclusion in the exhibit, Chromatic Restraint at SlipStitch Studio in Seattle.
The exhibit is an exploration of monochrome, limited palettes, and the power of subtlety. The theme challenges artists to convey depth, emotion, and narrative through a severe reduction of color.
Artist Statement:
The image "Rise. Sun. Set." is the b-roll edit of an image from my series, Black in Black and White. In it, I photographed Black artists and creatives and presented them in high-contrast B&W images. This particular alternate edit, plays with negative space and presents a woman sans makeup, sans accessories and sans hair. The peach/pink color also speaks to softness, minimalist aesthetic in a portrait.
