Black Joy at The KUBE Gallery

It’s Black History Month and always the time to celebrate Black Joy! February 2020, I started the series, “Black in Black & White” in conjunction with Black History Month. Now a couple of the portraits from that series are being exhibited.

I am one of 16 Black female photographers featured in Black Joy at The KUBE Gallery. The exhibit opens on February 15 and will run in conjunction with Black History Month and Women’s History Month for 6 weeks. The show is curated by the founder of Black Women Photographers, Polly Irungu.

“This exhibition is focused on the theme of Black Joy because in 2020 all we saw were moments of black pain and trauma,” says Polly Irungu. “It is my hope that these selected works which embody Black Joy bring some moments of light into your life today, tomorrow and in the future.”

The online exhibit showcases talented, Black female photographers whose work draw on and share the joy within Black communities.
